Underfoot Feel
The Brooks Cascadia 17 offer three main benefits:
- cushioning;
- protection from stones and pointed rocks; and
- grip.
The midsole is made from Brooks' DNA LOFT v2 foam. Significant, as this midsole foam can be found in some of Brooks most popular road running shoes. The result is a substantial amount of underfoot cushioning. Ideal if sections of your trail runs involve concrete or very hard ground.
An articulated Ballistic Rock Shield sits between the two layers or DNA LOFT v2 foam. This limits the chance of stones and pointed rocks pressing into the underside of your feet.
Much of the grip pattern on the outsole was inspired by the anatomy of mountain goat hooves. In addition to the grip pattern, TrailTack Rubber technology provides underfoot traction.
Upper Fit
The Cascadia 17's upper has an accommodating fit - which is well-aligned to the varied route profiles that these trail running shoes may be used for.
The upper's durability is enhanced by the presence of a TPU toe cap.
Ideal Run Type
The Brooks Women's Cascadia 17 Running Shoes are best for trail runs on varied off-road terrain. We do not recommend these shoes for very extreme terrain.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
